Iceland Superjeep

After our wedding ceremony, we had a few photos and went back to the hotel to dry off a bit. I had booked a Superjeep tour to take everyone around Snæfellsnes for some sightseeing and more photo opps.

We had originally planned to have two Superjeeps for our group, but with a last minute wedding attendee dropout, we were down to just 10 people and fit into their monster truck.

Our group, and our photography duo climbed in for a day of windy shooting and sightseeing.

We expected that the photographers would follow us around throughout the day, maybe giving a few pointers here and there, but otherwise just watching and shooting as they saw fit.

What actually happened was a lot of segregation from our guests and shooting in very specific locations of their choice. So, I couldn’t tell you what our first stop of the tour was, as we never saw it.

The second stop was to a black sand beach, where I encouraged everyone to watch the photo shoot and hang out with us as best they could.

The beach got pretty crowded at some point, so we stopped shooting and just enjoyed the view. That’s also when we got our wedding band album cover photo.

The tour was mostly a blur of stops to me. We went to a lighthouse, and stopped in Grundarfjordur again for lunch.

By the time we were done with lunch, the sun was out, shiny, and making photo opps very difficult. We stopped across from Kirkjufell, but it was too bring (and full of low tide critters) that we were only there for a few moments.

At my request, we also stopped at Kirkjufellfoss across the road, as most of our guests had not seen any waterfalls on their trip. And what’s a journey to Iceland without waterfalls?!

Even though it’s a very touristy spot, I think the whole group was revitalized to stop for just walking and sightseeing, no photos.

We wrapped up the tour at (another) weather tower, this one more intentional than the last. Our photographers had scoped out the location earlier that week; it offered a sweeping view and a big cliff side for me to dangle my feet off of.

Back at the hotel, we had a few hours to get ready for our “reception” dinner. It was a long day, and we were so glad to have that bit of extra time.

Love,

PD
