Attendee FAQ

Why Iceland?

We spent months looking at venues within and around New Jersey, but none of them felt quite right. Having a non-beach, off-the-beaten-path destination wedding felt more true to who we are as a couple.

When should I arrive?

The absolute last day to arrive is June 24th. Most flights leaving the east coast/NJ area are redeye flights, and so you will likely need to depart on June 23rd in order to arrive in Iceland on the 24th.

When can I leave?

The wedding ceremony is in the morning of June 25, with a wedding dinner celebration that evening. We do prefer that you stay through dinner, though if you need to leave after the ceremony, we will understand (sort of–did you come all the way to Iceland just to stay for a few hours?!). Preferably you should leave Snæfellsnes on June 26 afternoon–though you are welcome to stay or travel along with us.

What should I bring?

A coat, good boots or shoes for hiking and walking around, sunglasses, and a good attitude.

What should I wear?

The bride will be in a wedding gown, the groom in suit. For the ceremony itself, and dinner, please come dressed to impress. If you’re coming on the wedding day tour, it’s up to you what to wear that you feel comfortable and appropriate for the adventure (bride and groom will be staying as-is, with a minor footwear change).

What is expected of me?

Mostly to have fun and enjoy the experience. No one in our group has ever been to Iceland before–so you’re not alone. Have an upbeat attitude, patience, and a lot of love!

Do I need to do anything in advance?

  1. Make sure your passport is valid through February 2020.
  2. Check our Trip Itinerary and make sure all of your bookings and reservations are in order.
  3. Book your flights
  4. Send us your RSVP!

Do I need a special visa?

If you have a US passport, you don’t need to get any other sort of visa or documentation.

I’d like to make this trip into a family vacation, what about that?

That’s great that you’d like to have your family travel with you. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate any additional guests, so please plan accordingly for any family members or friends you are bringing who were not included in your wedding invitation.

Do you have to get legally married before/after this Iceland thing?

Actually, our Iceland wedding will be legally recognized in the United States. So, the ceremony and our legal marriage are one and the same. 🙂
