Suggestions for guests

Clothing

The weather in Iceland is known for being unpredictable. It’s important to note that despite the summer season, it will likely be cold (mid 40’s) and raining. If you plan on doing any hiking or being outside for an extended period, we suggest you bring a lot of layers, at least one of which should be wool.

Meal Planning

Dietary restrictions can be difficult to accommodate. If you are restricting meat, gluten, or dairy, please do some research and look in advance for places that you can eat. It is a good idea to pack snacks for yourself for each day, in case you are stuck and cannot eat the local food.

Food can be quite pricy. Expect to budget about $80/day for your meals. You can save some money by doing a bit of shopping at the grocery stores instead of at restaurants.

Travel

Iceland Air has a lot of deals going on and you can treat your trip to Iceland for our wedding as a long layover. Iceland Air has specifically set this up so that you can stopover for a few days in Iceland, then carry on with the next leg of your flight into Europe.

The best/cheapest days to book flights are Tuesdays, midday. You should book your flight at least 6 weeks in advance to get the best deal (and ensure you arrive on time!)

Some Iceland hotels are a bit more exclusive than others. It is a good idea to begin booking in the beginning of 2019, to ensure that you get the tours or rooms that you are looking for.
